2026 Tours & Events

There is nothing quite like meeting the residents of Kanda in person. When you step onto the sanctuary, you don’t just see pigs, you meet individuals with stories, personalities, preferences, and boundaries. We can’t wait to share that experience with you.

2026 Monthly Sanctuary Tours

In 2026, we’re offering one in-depth, ticketed tour per month on the second Sunday of each month. These tours are intentionally small and personal, designed to give you a deeper understanding of who our residents are and what sanctuary truly means.

Tour Details:

📅 Second Sunday of each month (with a few exceptions)

⏰ Starts at 11 am EST, tours typically last about 2 hours

🎟 $15 per person

👥 Limited to 10 guests per date

🎟️ Advanced registration required, purchase your tickets here before they sell out!

What Makes These Tours Different? These are interactive, immersive experiences!

Guests will: Spend extended time with the pigs. Learn about their individual rescue stories and personalities. .Go inside select pens with residents. Ask questions and have meaningful conversations about sanctuary life.

Because we will be entering the pigs’ spaces, these tours require a high level of respect for the animals’ autonomy and comfort.

All attendees MUST be able to follow directions, listen quietly when asked, respect boundaries (no chasing, grabbing, or forcing interaction), and understand that animals choose if and how they want to engage. Open Barn Days may be more appropriate for younger children who need more parental guidance. Sanctuary is built on consent and respect. We ask our guests to uphold those same values while visiting.

2026 Open Barn Days

We are also hosting two Open Barn Days in 2026:

🌸 May 3, 2026

🍂 October 4, 2026

Open Barn Days are relaxed, open-house style events. Guests can: Stop by during event hours, 11 am - 2 pm EST. Meet the pigs at their own pace. Learn about sanctuary work. Ask questions about rescue, care, and advocacy.

These days are perfect for first-time visitors, families, and anyone wanting a more casual introduction to Kanda.

Open Barn Days are FREE to attend! However we do ask that you RSVP by getting tickets here, so we know how many people to expect. Tickets are not required though.

We are currently seeking vendors for both Open Barn Days! If you are a local business, artist, or organization interested in being part of these events, we would love to connect. We would also love to have a food vendor! All products MUST be vegan to align with our mission and work.

Private Tours

Private tours are offered to Kanda supporters who sponsor a resident or make a monthly pledged donation of at least $10/month. You can sign up to sponsor a resident here or make a pledge on Patreon here.

Weekends work best for private tours. We may be able to make a weekday work with enough planning and flexibility. Please send us an email to schedule a tour. We really appreciate at least 2 weeks prior to plan a visit.

We understand this may be inconvenient for some. Since we are only 2 people voluntarily running the sanctuary and tours take away precious time from our duties, we must make all our time beneficial to the sanctuary. We appreciate your understanding.

If you are with an organization (school, afterschool program, church, etc.) and would like to schedule a tour, please send us an email to discuss options!

Visiting Guidelines

Attire: Be prepared to get dirty! You will get the most out of your visit if you are comfortable and willing to get messy. Please wear comfortable shoes, not sandals. Pigs also enjoy loose clothing and shoe laces, just to give you a heads up!

Food: Food is strickly prohibited near the residents or in their areas. This is for everyone's safety. Produce donations are encouraged, however they are not to be fed to anyone without permission and supervision. You may bring your own snacks. We do require all snacks to be plant based. Please don't hesitate to ask us if you need clarification. We would also be happy to recommend any near-by vegan eats!

Your Furry Friends: We love your rescued friends! And we love that you love your rescued friends! However we cannot allow any other animals to be present on the property. This is for the safety of both our residents and your furry friends. We do love pictures though!

AccessibilityOur property is mostly flat, except for where the pigs have rooted holes. The sanctuary is accessible to wheelchairs and scooters. There may be an exception if it is muddy. Feel free to contact us prior to coming out with specific questions.

Thank you so much to everyone who came o
